From classic to bold: reinventing the little black dress
I have always loved a classic style, and a little black dress is just part of that. For The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book we did the little black dress as a theme and I had this one in mind. I showed it on Shelbee’s blog. I had a great time shopping, online unfortunately, and found some fabulous items. I held back and didn’t buy everything I liked. I did ask myself what I needed the most at the moment. Good of me right! Black is always beautiful so that doesn’t count, hahaha, it’s great when you can make up your own rules. So today I’m wearing a black outfit again. And I found this dress on Vinted.
Little black dress……in my head it was much nicer

I have to stop putting items in a basket when I find a piece of clothing that I really like and then look at it again later. If I’m really in love with it I just have to buy it, because before I know it it’s already sold out or just sold. So I quickly decided that I wanted to buy this black dress. (to quickly!) Super simple, nice quality, perfect length (when I saw it online). But I fell for the gold studs. Black and gold, such a good combination.
So when I unpacked the black dress I was stunned by the quality and the looks of it. I really thought it was a perfect dress. And looked forward to wearing it. Until I put it on. Way too short!
And because it’s made of a heavy stretch quality, it also shows terribly. I have a pair of corrective underwear that fits so tightly around my stomach that it gives me a stomach ache. I wore those underneath, and it still isn’t nice and tight. By the way, I never wear corrective underwear. If something fits terribly, it’s that… but you can’t wear this dress without, well not when you are 58 anyway….
Classic or bold? (or neither….)
For the classic way, I wear the black dress with a cardigan and slingbacks. A bit like Audrey Hepburn but without pearls. And she had a better dress. I wore a few golden accessories. For the bold look, I wear ankle boots and a fashionable biker jacket. Some more striking gold-colored accessories added. None of the looks work for me!
I had just worked out, so the prints of my sports socks are still in my leg…. So this was quite a successful photo shoot, not. Funny actually that this dress is about the same length, and I always thought it looked great on me. I know I should not wear a shorter dress with bare legs, my legs are simply very ugly. Yeah, working out 4 times a week doesn’t always pay off!! Anyway, the black dress is going for sale again and makes room for a better purchase!
