When Jodie chose the Winter White theme for The Thrifty Six last month, I bought this white denim skirt for that. I have almost nothing white (exept my totall white interiour…..). I can remember one pair of white trousers from when I was 19. After that I never wore a white skirt, dress or trousers. Most likely within the next day or so I will come across several photos from my blog in which I am wearing something white…… At least for now I can’t remember wearing it. Keep in mind that I am 57, yes, I can blame it on menopause.
White denim skirt and how to style it when it’s still chilly
But no white in my closet. Why not, you might think? Because I love black! And all other dark colors. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t like light colours. But I’m quite a black and white person, haha. With me it’s one way or the other. Anyway, I had to find a pre-loved item and that became this white denim skirt. Styled two ways to see if I like it or sell it straight away.
A common style to wear a white denim skirt is with black! It’s my favorite colour, but I’m not a big fan of this colour combination. I have said it a million times before, black and white give me waitress feel. I think it looks nice, and I am getting used to black and white together, but I don’t really feel like myself. But when I checked the photo’s I actually liked it a lot. Also the lenght of the skirt I liked a lot, while I wear my skirts a lot longer these days. Surprising.
What a bummer this denim skirt is
But when I bought this skirt I had immediately in mind to wear it with this grey knitted bow jumper and the taupe suède ankle boots. In my head white works the best with grey. Although I do love the combination of white, yellow and black too. I think this is a lovely outfit and I do like the skirt, however….
Although the stains are out,(the hole back was covered with staines when I received it) they are still there in my head…….yes, I am like that…..And the skirt is really really old. Not worn much, but the label is old fashioned and the fabric feels very old. Almost like cardboard. It doesn’t feel good to wear the skirt. And it doesn’t certainly feel good to resell it so it’s in the throw away pile.
I had a few bad buys at Vinted lately and now I am a bit fed up with it. I will leave it for a while and will visit pre loved brick stores in the future. The warmer weather is coming so it’s easier for me to cycle to a store then.
I am wearing grey and gold earrings with this white denim skirt look and a bright pink statement ring and a few light pink bracelets. Because pink and grey is also a good combination. So, it was good to try something white, but the conclusion is that it is not for me. As the white Zara skirt that I ordered looked like I was wearing my bedding. But really….

How interesting that you are not drawn to white! I’m the opposite, I hardly ever wear black now. Have a good weekend.

Thank you Gail!
You look amazing Sharron Murphy. I like this white skirt. You can also wear it in the summertime. 😁

Sorry that it came with some stains on it. I do love how it looks with the pretty bow sweater. The belted blazer is the perfect topper as well! Thanks so much for the link up Sharron Murphy!

I love the silhouette of this skirt on you! It is an adorable skirt and looks great both ways you have styled it. What a shame that the fabric feels icky and had stains. I just cleaned out my closet and got rid of all the denim skirts because I hate the way they feel on me. I am about to move out most of my jeans, too, for the same reason. The fabric isn’t soft enough for me these days. I want all the comfort now! I hope you have a lovely weekend, my friend!

Haha, yes I am leaning more and more to comfort too. But I want to change that, well at least when I go out that is!
I’m sorry the skirt was stained. I love the contrast between the black and white and also with the grey! Thank you for the linkup! Have a fabulous weekend!

Too bad, you are not liking it and how it feels: it really looks cute on you but I think that if you feel like you won’t wear it, away it goes! It does gives me some ideas to style my little white denim skirt once I take the rest of my summery stuff out: still a little chilly here for some things.

I still have my winter wardrobe, it is to cold and in the following two weeks it will not get any warmer. Bummer, spring will be late again!
Thank you so much for featuring my post! I don’t own much white either; I find it much too hard to keep clean… I do love how bright and fresh it looks on other people but I find I never relax when I’m wearing something white because I am always afraid I’ll drop something on it or sit in something that will stain it.
Author
I have to say, I almost never drop something on my clothes. Gerben does though, lol.
I like both of these neutral outfits styled with your white skirt. The skirt is such a cute and classic A-line style. Sorry you are disappointed with it and Vinted. Thanks for the link up and hope you have a lovely weekend and Easter!

I have a few white bits, they look nice on holiday. I’ve got a super maxi dress that’s lovely. Thanks for hosting Sharron Murphy.

As you’ll probably know, I don’t wear (much) white either. At least not something solid white 😉
Your denim skirt reminds me of one I had as a 15-year old. It was white with red stitching and I loved it to bits.
But then punk happened and white was a real no-no 🙂 xxx

Hahaha, all colour was a real nono! Those were the days, lol.
The skirt looks good but I understand what you mean – too bad it’s not good in real life. I really like it styled with the black blazer and boots. I also understand what you mean about not feeling like yourself in something, so many times in the past I’d try to force myself to wear something that I just didn’t really enjoy, I think we know ourselves best!!
Have a great weekend my friend!

I think you are absolutely on the point there! Thanks Kellyann!
I need a white skirt like this. Mine is short and not as easy to wear. It’s shocking you don’t have more white especially with your interior as it is.
Love the looks, Sharron Murphy!!

Haha, yeah strange right. I think this lenght really looked good to my surprise. But the fabric was way to weird.
LOVE the skirt with that grey sweater, it’s gorgeous! The boots look super cute too. Such a shame that you’ve had some bad buys from Vinted though. That really sucks. I had the same thing with eBay back in the early days and I ended up giving up with it. Vinted has been pretty good for me although I did get once a sweatshirt that had clearly been worn to death!
Big hugs

I had more good buys then bad ones luckily, but sometimes you have a really bad one and that is such a pitty.
I love the skirt with the grey sweater and nude boots. It’s a shame you’ve have some bad experiences with Vinted. I’ve bought a lot of things on the app and only had a couple of disappointments. I always check the seller’s reviews, just like eBay!

Yes I do that too, only once forgot to and that was also a bad buy. But overall I am pretty happy with it!
Looking very nice. Thanks for hosting and I hope that you have a wonderful week.

I have a distressed white denim miniskirt (worn with tights!) and a pair of white jeans – I love both of them. I like this skirt on you, but if you hate the fabric, let it go. That’s why I can’t shop online – I have to touch things.
Author
I don’t like online shopping either but it’s a neccesity. Well, there are worse things in life, lol.
I love a bit of white, especially on holidays. Thanks for linkup on Mummabstylish. Jacqui xx
