The modern uniform: denim, sneakers and effortless elegance
I think it’s a nice name, the modern uniform. How many women wear jeans, a denim skirt, or dress with sneakers? It’s stylish, sporty, trendy, you name it. And what you wear on top really defines your style. I love a classic style, but with a touch of contrast. That’s why I love this outfit so much! Classic blouse, sporty sneakers. You might have seen the skirt before, but not the blouse. But first, let me tell you all about our vacation. And hold on tight, because the drama of misery continues here!
The drama continues

While we were so hoping for a relaxing vacation to recover from all the stress we’ve had over the past few months, that story was unfortunately cut short. On the first day of the vacation, I got sick. And not just a little bit, but with a real fever, a lot of coughing, and extremely short of breath. The second day was my birthday, and I had decided to celebrate it the week before. So I was completely miserable and tired at my party and even went to bed while I still had guests. Long story short, a course of antibiotics and prednisone later, and I started to recover a bit on the last weekend of the vacation.
In between, I also had cataract surgery. The simplest surgery, they say. Well, in my case, one eye didn’t quite work out. It’s truly unbelievable! Sometimes I get the feeling this kind of thing only happens to me. The other eye is healing well now, but I’ll have to go back and have something done about the other eye. So that was our vacation. I feel especially bad for Gerben. He’s taking on more and more caregiving responsibilities and really needs his rest. We’re hoping to take another week off towards the end of October and be able to get away for a few nights.
The modern uniform, denim and sneakers
Back to the modern uniform. I prefer to wear this top with sneakers because I find it a bit too frumpy otherwise, like with sandals. But I really like the blouse, and as I said, this wrap skirt is definitely my favourite this summer. The blouse is a bit of a classic, a BB print with lovely daisies and a puff sleeve. I tucked one side in, but I am not sure it works well to be honest. A lot of blue accessories complement the look.
I think this was the last time for me to wear this outfit. Because it is getting colder quickly. It’s awful, by the way, that it’s suddenly getting dark so soon in the evenings and so cold in the mornings. I can never get used to that. I don’t like fall and winter. Is it just me, or have we really not had a great summer?
