Tips & Tricks for Mastering a Daily Hair Routine

Have you ever looked in the mirror after a great night’s sleep and said to yourself, “how am I supposed to do my hair today when it looks like this?” I can 100 percent guarantee that you have, and I can assure you that you are not alone! So I have for you today tips & tricks for mastering a daily hair routine. Some may dread those days when they have an important meeting, and have to look their best and can’t throw their hair up in a messy bun, while others may have the advantage of a messy bun if they work from home. My hair is always messy, I like it that way, but really….

The Importance of Hair Care

Including a hair care routine in your everyday schedule is not only important for the health of your hair, but your self-confidence as well. The more you care for your hair and take the proper steps to maintain its health, the better you will feel when you get ready for the day. I mean don’t we all feel shit when our hair doesn’t look the way we want it too? If you want to learn some tips and tricks for maintaining healthy hair, consider these three steps:

Scheduled Hair Wash Days

Scheduling certain days to wash your hair can save you time and improve the health of your hair. Picking two days a week to wash your hair will allow you to set aside enough time to care for it. If you are someone who tends to wash your hair multiple times a week, your hair will learn to adjust to a new schedule.

On those days that you wash your hair, create a routine that will help you to keep it clean for a few days! That may consist of the following: shampoo and condition in the shower first. Once you rinse your hair, consider using a hair mask before drying your hair. After you have completed your hair routine in the shower, make sure to brush it out before you add in some products and dry it. I actually wash my hair once a week with sillicone and sulphate free products. I think my hair stays cleaner that way.

After you complete your hair wash routine, your hair will be ready for the next couple of days. You will be able to wake up the next morning and style it to your liking; curly, straight, or braided. This will provide you some relief as you wake up and get ready for the day. Pick out your work outfit, do your hair and makeup, and take on the day with a positive attitude.

Hair Products and Supplements

Before using a hair product, be sure to do your research. Look for certain chemicals that you should avoid putting in your hair, look at the reviews, and research whether or not the product will benefit your hair. Remember, don’t overuse the products, it can cause your hair to become greasy again, and you don’t want that after your hair is clean!

If you notice that as you get older, whether you have kids or will be going through menopause soon, your hair may start thinning and stop growing. As scary as that side effect is during premenopause, it is completely normal, and you are not alone. Many other women experience it as well. If you notice hair loss or thinning, consider asking your doctor about an oral prescription like spironolactone that can help your hair to grow.

Another trick that you can incorporate into your routine is to avoid putting heat on your hair every day. Heat can cause damage to your hair and can cause it to become thin. The damage to your hair can be difficult to fix, so only using heat a couple of times a week can avoid that damage. If you curl your hair with a hair curler, adding in some product to hold your hair will allow your curls to stay for a couple of days.

Prepare Your Hair the Night Before

If you have a busy morning preparing breakfast or getting ready for a meeting, prepping your hair the night before can save you some time. You may want to look your best for an important event you have coming up, so being prepared can relieve some of the stress. Checking some things off your list the night before can provide you some relief and feel less anxious.

For low maintenance, try braiding your hair the night before when it is damp. The next morning you will be left with some effortless wavy curls that will look great without having to do anything. Just give it a little spray with a curl-holding hairspray or use a curl-defining hair gel to help you feel more confident and finish off your look by trying to find an outfit that will make you feel your best, picking out your accessories, and making sure you have your ticket or wallet.

Make Your Hair a Priority

Take these tips and tricks and add them to your daily routine. Make time for hair care like you make time for exercise or appointments. You may notice that setting an alarm on your phone in the morning, or at night, may be beneficial or setting aside time at night to have to yourself will allow you to conquer the routine as well. Remember investing in your hair care is an important part of your overall self-care routine. I hope these tips & tricks for mastering a daily hair routine can help you to get a better relationship with your hair!
