Freshen Up Your Look with a White Denim Skirt
When Jodie chose the Winter White theme for The Thrifty Six last month, I bought this white denim skirt for that. I have almost nothing white (exept my totall white interiour…..). I can remember one pair of white trousers from when I was 19. After that I never wore a white skirt, dress or trousers. Most likely within the next day or so I will come across several photos from my blog in which I am wearing something white…… At least for now I can’t remember wearing it. Keep in mind that I am 57, yes, I can blame it on menopause.
White denim skirt and how to style it when it’s still chilly
But no white in my closet. Why not, you might think? Because I love black! And all other dark colors. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t like light colours. But I’m quite a black and white person, haha. With me it’s one way or the other. Anyway, I had to find a pre-loved item and that became this white denim skirt. Styled two ways to see if I like it or sell it straight away.
A common style to wear a white denim skirt is with black! It’s my favorite colour, but I’m not a big fan of this colour combination. I have said it a million times before, black and white give me waitress feel. I think it looks nice, and I am getting used to black and white together, but I don’t really feel like myself. But when I checked the photo’s I actually liked it a lot. Also the lenght of the skirt I liked a lot, while I wear my skirts a lot longer these days. Surprising.
What a bummer this denim skirt is
But when I bought this skirt I had immediately in mind to wear it with this grey knitted bow jumper and the taupe suède ankle boots. In my head white works the best with grey. Although I do love the combination of white, yellow and black too. I think this is a lovely outfit and I do like the skirt, however….
Although the stains are out,(the hole back was covered with staines when I received it) they are still there in my head…….yes, I am like that…..And the skirt is really really old. Not worn much, but the label is old fashioned and the fabric feels very old. Almost like cardboard. It doesn’t feel good to wear the skirt. And it doesn’t certainly feel good to resell it so it’s in the throw away pile.
I had a few bad buys at Vinted lately and now I am a bit fed up with it. I will leave it for a while and will visit pre loved brick stores in the future. The warmer weather is coming so it’s easier for me to cycle to a store then.
I am wearing grey and gold earrings with this white denim skirt look and a bright pink statement ring and a few light pink bracelets. Because pink and grey is also a good combination. So, it was good to try something white, but the conclusion is that it is not for me. As the white Zara skirt that I ordered looked like I was wearing my bedding. But really….
