Bermuda shorts, from holiday wear to fashion staple

I saw them on Instagram a while ago, the Bermuda shorts. And I think they look so good on someone else! Just like shorts and a blazer for example, I also love that, especially with boots. Now I really don’t think shorts look good on me anymore, for me they could be a little longer. And that’s where Bermuda shorts comes into play. Because my urge to wear Bermuda shorts was greater than the question of whether it would suit me.

The search for perfect bermuda shorts

I’ve been looking for  bermuda shorts that were completely to my liking for a while. Why ever settle for less anyway… I wanted a pinstripe and preferably a brown one. Navy would have been my second option. But it also had to fall to the knee and not above. Well see! I found it, eventually. I had to return a lot because they were all just above the knee. The persistent wins!

This is quite a trend that I have totally adopted and copied. With a wool jumper and boots. Because I think this is the most beautiful way to style a pair of Bermuda shorts. So it is quite a restrictive garment, at least for me. On the other hand, I almost always style my outfits the same way, because I just like it that way the best. I did see influencers wear the bermuda short with socks and brogues. Which I actually liked a lot, but it’s not a style I feel comfortable in. 

And how I styled them

I think Bermuda shorts look very good with high boots. Whether they are boots with a heel or something cooler with a flat heel, it doesn’t matter. But ankle boots or sneakers are a no-no under Bermuda shorts. In this season that is. They look great with sneakers of course in summer. Wel, not these but summery ones…..you know what I mean. But I also saw them worn with pumps, which I loved too. So perhaps ankle boots with a heel aren’t such a bad idea, I just haven’t tried it yet. And slowly the bermuda shorts are more versatile in styling then I initially thought! Always good to keep an open mind….

I am wearing a very very old bracelet, and in my head that is about 19 years old. Very kitsch but that is the fun! Bought at Bijou Brigitte when they had brick stores. Loved it there, and bought a lot back then. They had those cute little steel baskets were you put your stuff in and grap everything you liked! Yeah, those were the days….lol. I am wearing brown leather boots and a new wool jumper in olive green, well it’s actually a cardigan. But I am wearing it closed as a jumper. Now, are you a fan of bermuda shorts?
