Mixing it up: Polka Dots go casual

Mixing not only prints up today, but also styles. At least in my head. I was happy when Shelbee choose polka dots for The Thrifty Six for the month of March. Polka dots have something frivolous, something girly, feminine elegance. But I did have the well-known problem. I didn’t have any polka dots in my closet anymore and certainly no pre-loved ones. So, scouring Vinted! Well, it didn’t take long before I came across this great blazer. By Frans Molenaar for C&A. Frans Molenaar was a Dutch couturier. It was another good purchase at Vinted.

Mixing it up, polka dots and stripes

I think polka dots and stripes are the perfect print mixing, just like floral and polka dots. You see often that floral print dresses have dots, you can see Emma wearing such a example with The Thrifty Six. But I am also mixing styles up a little bit. Wearing sporty sneakers with polka dots. For me polka dots are super feminine and remind me of the 50s, pencil skirts , pumps and a polka dot blouse. But of course they look great on any style!

Whenever I am talking about this print, I can see a photo before me of myself as a 8 year old girl in a light blue and white polks dot blouse with red buttons. Yes, I wasn’t born with black clothing!

Fitted blazer’s are so much better for me

Because I showed you here my oversized one and you see the difference in how it looks on me, at least I hope so. This blazer fits perfectly and still looks very good, although it must be quite old. I think these kinds of blazers are ideal for the summer, they are less formal than a regular blazer and often have stretch in them. This cheerful one has that too!

I’m not a big fan of black and white, but for polka dots I think it’s a great combination, just like navy and white dots. I love wearing polka dots with a stripe, mixing it up, but I still have to order a striped shirt for this summer. A breton tee is a must have for summer I think. Looks fabulous on everything! The striped top is older and pre loved too. The skirt is my favourite for several seasons, but I wonder if I should bring it to the tailor to make it a bit shorter. What are your thoughts?
